I'm reasonably sure those are some type of geese, not swans or ducks. Too big for ducks, their heads and necks are wrong for swans, who have incredibly long and slender necks and distinct beaks, not to mention that they are even larger than the birds in the photo. we get a lot of them stopping here in the winter and I'm always amazed by the size of the things!

Speaking of Geese...
I tried to take a photo of some recently and one came charging towards me so like the big hard Geordie bloke that I am I turned on my heels and ran :)

hahaha! ILuvNUFC, did that big goose break down the door in the background to get to you?

I love the look of rage on it's face, should use it as a comp pic :-)

When I was lining up the shot it was next to the other Goose but you know how it is with digital cameras taking ages to take the photo once you click the button.
By the time the picture was done it was only a few feet from me screaming and shouting and making up the ground very quickly! :)

Geese are beautiful big creatures - til they do something like that :-)

Years ago I was terrified of our neighbours rooster, Elvis, it was the most vicious bird I'd ever seen, well, other than me.
