I once worked at a job where an applicant didn't even wait for the interview -- he came in to pick up an application, asked if we drug tested, and upon hearing "Yes," dropped the app on the counter and walked out without a word.

Or maybe he didn't want to work for a company who feels it should be allowed to control the private lives of it's employees. Seriously, fire them if they come to work stoned, but if they spark up on Friday after work, how is it any of your companies business? Hypocritical companies like this make me sick. Don't allow recreation drug use, but their insurance plans probably cover treatments for lung cancer and cirrhotic livers. What's next firing people because they pirate movies and music?

Actually, that's not necessarily a bad question to ask if you're a librarian...

I thought exactly what HollywoodBob did. You can't get an answer to things like "Is this the sort of company that does self-evidently reprehensible things just because it's not actually illegal?", but it's a pretty good shortcut if they're drug-testing their staff without an EXTREMELY compelling reason. I wouldn't apply either.
