This is art :) This brings up the idea of a "Mission Accomplished" on my shoulder :P

Btw, check out this link (http://www.vgb.no/8004/perma/88158/). It's a Norwegian game-journalists' home. A geeks' home! :)

It's in Norwegian, but it has nice pics. You'll get the referances!

respect! some cool work up there - too bad some of it is on ugly people. the mario looking live the indian god is the coolest imho

I'm 18 years old and I have an appointment to get a video game related tattoo next week.

I'd like to know how on earth this automatically makes me "45 and living with my mother".

Tattoos are about having a piece of art on your body, something you plan to carry with you for the rest of your life. Some of us just happen to prefer more original designs than the repeats you see over and over.

I also assume you asked and gained permission from these people before posting their pictures to this blog? ^^

Anonymous said...

This is all about becoming one with Marryo my friends. One with Marryo. One. With. Marryo.

And permission? Who the fleep cares about permissions? Not Marryo!

Anonymous said...

Hey anonymous foo two above me, there ain't not none "piece of art" I want to carry around with me my whole life. In fact, I read somewhere a stat that said 125% of tattoo wearers now regret that Sheep McMolly tat they got during the Lawrence Welk Show.

So howsabout yousa cancel that appointment and get fitted for a turquoise tux instead!?

I've seen a Monkey Island one somewhere which is pretty awesome.

LOLMFG! Im a huge nerd-geek and I still think this is st00pid! LOLOLOLOL! I would seriously laugh at these ppl if I saw them on the street. It'll kick ass 30 years from now when you see old ppl with mario tattoos.

And the statements above just prove beyond doubt why you dont understand. They didnt get the tattoo for your enjoyment. They (i hope) each got it because it meant something personal to them. You can no more chortle at the above, than you can the biker with a flaming skull. The only tattoo you can regret is the one you got for someone else.

The first tatto was posted in a Nintendo Power Magazine, i have it

master Chief ... That's The Don Wan

the okami one is hands down the best.
:)))

and these tats are not stupid. they mean something to the person[or they should]
i just got my own pixelated invincibility star.
it pwns.

you may think it's stupid, but it's not FOR YOU. remember that. these people are proud of the artwork they carry on their bodies, and are generous enough to share it. if you don't like it, f&%k off, because there's a pretty big chance that there's something these people can laugh at you about.
duh.

That Okami tattoo is pretty awesome looking. I'd probably get something similar to that, if I ever were to get a tattoo at all.

I'm willing to bet that those who claim it's stupid don't have any tattoos of their own and couldn't handle getting one.

Because anyone into tattoos who has one of their own knows that you don't dump on someone else's tattoo art, because you know that while it might be meaningless to you, it could be something that has seriously affected their lives and who they are as a person.

And the ink shown here certainly has much more personality than the countless tattoos you see of nautical stars or kanji.

What a bunch of nerds man. I mean, i enjoy videogames, but a tattoo? A bit over the top in my opinion.

Unless they're temporary tattoos of course.

I like games and all, but a tat is a little too much. I'd much prefer just some nice artwork on a poster or on a canvas rather than my body.

Getting a tattoo that is video game related just shows love for said video game, its not over the top or anything anymore than any other tattoo that is dedicated to anything else. i'd love to get one

Anonymous said...

I actaully have 6 tattoos 5 are from video games and one from an anime!! Dylanf2@yahoo.com i'll send the pics if you dont believe me

What a bunch of muppets, anyone with a dumb tattoo is just dumb simple as that.

You know this thing called a T-shirt, you can actually get video game shirts instead. If you're a total loser of course.

Muppets muppets muppets hahahaha.

Coming from a guy who plays video games, yes that's how sad your pathetic tattoos are.

soooo nice!! i want one :D

Guinessheart said...

Ok, so far the bashing has come to: Being a hopeless nerd living at home, being so nerdy that you were to get a video game tattoo on your body, being a loser because you have a tattoo. I believe it would be safe to assume that you are narrow minded in the fact that anything can be art. And if the person that wants a tattoo is inspired, or holds sentimental value toward said art then it is up to them.

As said above, you probably would not say anything negative to a biker with a flaming skull, or a tattooist about his bio-mechanical sleeve, or to a surfer with a back peice of the ocean. So why attack the nerds for their enjoyment? Probably because you don't have anything that you hold dear. Probably because you have to fill your void with materialistic objects just to feel happy.

Let these people enjoy what they want and go off and bash something else that might hold some value to someone like you.

The 8-bit totem with megaman and stuff is cool!

what is with people hating on these dudes with video game tats they act like big stuff but i bet if they saw these people in real life they would say it looks good and cool cause they dont have the balls to say crap to their face. these people who say its stupid probably think all tats are stupid so no matter what it is they are gonna think it was a waste of money and is stupid. i am 20 and i love video games and i have been playing zelda since i was 5 and im gonna get a triforce tat cause zelda is my favorite game and it reminds me of the simple and fun times as a child so that is my reason for getting a vdeo game tat so dont be hating mine i didnt get it for you. to the people who say nasty and hurtful things it is sad that you have to put people down to make you feel better and for that i pity you hope you all can find happiness without hurting others

wow love the totem pole one near the top. I wouldn't get it myself mind you... the mario on the neck is a bit tragic, i would never get one on my neck and definitely not a mario. Imagine going to collect your giro at 70 sporting a wilted mario on your neck

Those are amazing :D. I wouldn't mind having like a Badass zelda Tattoo or something similar.

Daniel said...

why do people seem to think that getting a tattoo of a video game is symptomatic of being "sad, lame, over the top or of a 45 year old living with mom".

Like most have already said, people who get tats do it for themselves, and if they do it for someone else, its someone they themselves deem worthy of marking their body over. Point in case, its their own body and own decision.

Personally, I dont like tattoos, but Its pretty badass to get a tat of a loved video game. Cool set of pics.

I have the Mortal Kombat dragon tattooed on my chest. And despite what some people think I'm not 45 or living with my parents. I'm 25, live with my girlfriend, and I'm a successful english teacher in Beijing China.
I can't speak for all the people in the pictures, but the reason I did it was because one, I wanted to pay homage to my geekness which I am proud of. And two (and this is the reason most of these people probably got them) i wanted to pay homage to times past and fond memories from my younger years.

A lot of this tattoos are amazing, love the Samus one the most. Though as these people age I'm sure they will regret it in someway.

I am planning on getting a Mirror's Edge Tattoo and even when I'm 80 and the tattoo is faded and old I'll still say this is my nerd tattoo and I LOVE IT!

Spencer Smith said...

cool artwork in the tats...but really? REALLY? i guess if a video game means so much to your life that you find it necessary to imprint it on your body until you die, go right ahead and do it. but ...REALLY?

I'm 45 and have 20 tattoos no video game iconography, but I won't be a sniping expert on what is cool and what isn't...a holes will always try to bring you down...my standing Berlin bear on my right tricep means du doch nicht baby! And to the peeps that think I'm crazy..my black and grey portrait of Salvador Dali..circa 1944 reminds me that you have to be yourself and whatever your friends, enemies, and critics say..they only see the tip of the iceberg.......
