These pictures have very little to do with makeup vs. no makeup. It's mostly just very unflattering pictures (more unflattering in most cases than simply lacking makeup) set next to very flattering pictures.

In their or anyones defense who has not so good pictures circulating around, I have to say that these pictures do not tell us what people look like without make-up at all... They just tell us what people look like when they are at their worst. Or at a low point. I mean like the hair is not even combed on some. That is beyond normal, that is a night out on the razz, a hangover or too much rough sex.
To look good without make-up you have to try and remember that out of the spotlight your face is not a leather punch bag. Take care of your skin, go easy on the cigerretes - your pretty face is not an ash tray either...

Some of them look fine without makeup, by the way the picture of charlize theron in the 2nd lot of pictures is from her movie monster. She was required to gain weight and wear prosthetic teeth hence that really isnt her without makeup. She is naturally beautiful. I think naturally beautiful is when you dont need surgical enhancement. Make up is just an aid.
I am in agreeance with those who think this site is complete rubbish. Honestly, everybody has their bad days, this goes to celebrities too because they really are just people. These photos placed next to digitally enhanced photos merely emphasise the so called "ugliness" of these women. To be completely honest, most of these women will probably look better without makeup than tonnes of people on the street. Yes too much makeup is misleading but this site is much more misleading with the "bad" photos they use.
well, of course they chose the most rotten looking pics against the best ones, to show the difference. they probably don't always look like that, that person just chose the trashiest, ugliest picture of the celeb that he could find, and then the best, just to get a reaction...there are some days really pretty people look bad, and others not. i wouldn't judge based on one picture.

I take pictures of myself with a cell phone and if I take dozens of pictures in different lights, I can get a few where I look like a "movie star" and the rest where I look ancient, crazy, sick and/or evil. Moral: photographs lie.
Also, movie stars are not necessarily beautiful, like models are supposed to be. They rely on acting and lighting and make up to MAKE UP for their physical flaws.

The most beautiful woman can look bad if you catch her in bad lighting and with a grumpy expression. The "average" girl on the street wants to look like these "beautiful" celebrities. If they did, they would be downgrading themselves. What dogs!

A couple of points:
1) If you want to see men (and women) with little or no makeup, check out "The Smoking Gun" website mug shots. They have Celebs, Musicians (their Marilyn Manson shot is better than this one), Politicians, etc. The mug shots are dated so you can compare them to equivalent publicity photos from the same time period so you don't end up with apples and oranges comparisons (like these Halle Barrie photos which are a candid from her teens - about the time she placed 2nd in the Miss Teen USA beauty contest, which is hardly fair to use as a makeup/no makeup comparison by any stretch of the imagination - compared to the slick photo from TWENTY EIGHT YEARS LATER). Almost all girls look "pretty" as teens. So this comparison is unfair in many ways.
2) A number of these candids are obviously of actresses who have irritated skin from their jobs. While most women apply makeup once a day, with a touch up or two, actresses are heavily made up and have that makeup applied and removed multiple times in a day. You try that and see how red your skin will look after a few days. Yet most of these women have been doing this for decades.
3) On other sites I've seen actresses w/out makeup that are very pretty w/out their makeup and others that are horrible looking. This posting seems to have taken the worse and in some cases, those who normally look nice without makeup and used pictures that due to angle, lighting, what they are doing at the time, etc to make them look far worse than they actually look without makeup. Thats just unfair.
4) The bottom line is a fair display would be to show the actress at the same age, as close as possible to the same pose and normal lighting for w/out makeup as the makeup version.
Then the viewer can discount the airbrushing, Paintshopping and special lighting to get a fair idea of how the two versions of the person really do appear.
I'm sure most men out there believe their wives/girlfriends are beautiful without makeup but look nicer with some makeup. After 45 years, I know my wife is as pretty as the day I first saw her despite the wear and tear of marriage and child rearing those years have put upon her.
By the way, I did find a more contemporary picture of Halle.

Most of them are natural beauties. Anyhow, the photographers were not fair by (deliberately) only taking their "ugly" pictures/poses.

well im 20 years old and these picture should be showen more to people my age and younger. i see girls from 12+ coming into my work with make up, fake eyelashes, fake tan and clothes that i know i would not let my daughter wear at that age. I only started were make up when i was 17 and then i was still playing in mud with my cadet mates.
not just that the way men look at women when they are like that. I do enjoy it tho when a lad get off with a girl with an inch of make up because i always think there not going to look like that in the moring.

The pictures without make up show how bad some of the most 'beautiful people in the world' skin is. Cameron Diaz has got terrible skin, probaly from going on crash diets, over exercising and wearing too much make up.
It's funny that more often, the picture without make-up have "bad photography lighting", bad camera angle, and the actresses have weird facial expressions at the moment that the picture was taken. I'm sure you guys have bad camera shots too due to these reasons and more often we delete it :-)

Okay, first off, Halle looks good, and if you think she's busted than you're either blind or your just that insecure...
Secondly, the point of these images is to show people that what has been labeled as "real beauty" or "natural beauty", or just "beauty" in general is a lie. The point is show that these people have any better genes than anyone else.
Thirdly, most of these people look horrible. They look sick, unhappy, and unhealthy. Most people women I see (no matter how old) look as bad as some of these celebs do.

WHEW.....Thank God all of us who are cracking on these celebrities with, and without, their makeup are all so perfect and beautiful. Yes they make lots of money for doing what they do but does that give us poetic justice to rake them over the coals and throw stones at them.....is this one of those age old lessons we were all taught as kids?? I certainly hope not! Now leave me be so I can go stare at myself in the mirror and show the entire world I am perect (just like so many who have posted before me!)
