El Monte, CA is very close to Los Angeles, about a 380 mile drive from Alameda -- but I found these cards (circa 1929) so interesting I decided to put them on the site. Gay's Lion farm opened in 1919 and closed in 1942. At one time the "farm" housed the MGM lion and several lions used in Tarzan movies.
